According to MoS Pankaj Chaudhary, 72.56 lakh homes have been finished or delivered under PMAY-U.

In answer to a point, the minister stated that 2.21 crore homes had been built nationwide as part of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana -G.    

A total of 1.20 crore homes have been approved under the government’s flagship Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Urban program, with governmental support reaching Rs 2.02 lakh crore. As of March 13, 2023, a total of Rs 1.42 lakh crore in financial subsidies had been made available for the building of the approved homes, of which 72.56 lakh have been supplied or are nearing completion. The government told the Lok Sabha on March 27 that the program has been applied till December 31, 2024.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) includes the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G) and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban, according to Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary (PMAY-U).

According to information supplied by the Department of Rural Development (DoRD), Ministry of Rural Development, starting on April 1, 2016, the DoRD began developing PMAY-G in order to realize the goal of “Housing for Everyone” in rural regions. To qualifying rural households, it offers support. The ultimate goal is to build 2.95 crore pucca homes complete with needs by March 31, 2024, he said.

2.94 crore of the guideline of 2.95 crore homes have been distributed by the Government to various States/UTs. According to him, 2.86 crore homes have been approved for beneficiaries out of this total, and 2.21 crore homes have been built as of March 22, 2023.

According to information from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), beginning June 25, 2015, the Ministry has been delivering PMAY-U to offer all-weather pucca homes with basic facilities to all qualified urban households across the country. In response, he stated that PMAY-U is a demand-driven program and that, to date, a total of 1.20 crore houses, with federal money of Rs. 2.02 lakh crore, have been sanctioned, compared to the original verified demand of 1.12 crore living spaces.

As of March 13, 2023, financial funding of Rs. 1.42 lakh crore had been made available for the building of the sanctioned homes, 72.56 lakhs of which have been finished and/or delivered. He replied that the program has been extended to December 31, 2024.

On February 1, Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister, announced an increase in the PMAY budget of 66 percent to 79,000 crores.

All qualified urban users will receive pucca homes with necessary services thanks to PMAY, which was introduced in June 2015.

Moreover, it hopes to promote property among women and address the urban housing problem for low- and middle-income populations.

To finish the buildings approved until March 31, 2022, the project has been continued through December 31, 2024.
