Hyderabad: The state government has decided to launch the second phase of the Sheep Distribution Scheme, which has been implemented across the state, on June 9 as part of the Telangana Formation Day celebrations, which begin on Friday.

As of March 2018, the State government had delivered 1 crore 28 lakh sheep to subsidized sheep distribution plan recipients. 

Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav will formally inaugurate the initiative in Nakrekal, Nalgonda district, while other Ministers, MPs, MLAs, and MLCs will distribute sheep units throughout Telangana. 

Approximately 3.93 lakh sheep units, each consisting of 20 sheep and one ram, were supplied to qualifying members of the Golla Kuruma community during phase 1.

The second phase is expected to help around 3.5 lakh families.

According to the Minister, the recipients should be brought along with the officials to acquire the sheep units. To maintain transparency, all efforts should be done. 

Srinivas Yadav commanded that medications, fodder, insurance tags, and other arrangements be made for all recipients, and he granted pleas from the Madasi Kuruva community to be included as beneficiaries under the plan.

After reviewing the preparations for Telangana Formation Day, the Minister directed officials from the animal husbandry, dairy, and fisheries departments to ensure that beneficiaries of different programs attend all activities planned as part of the 21-day celebrations. 

He requested that they notify the elected representatives in advance and make the necessary arrangements to secure their participation in the sheep distribution system.

 On June 8, 9, and 10, there will be a fish cuisine festival in each area. 

On June 8, 9, and 10, the fisheries department will host a fish cuisine festival at all district offices.

In each district, 20 to 30 kiosks would be put up, serving meals such as fish fry, biryani, and fish soup made by professional women fishermen. 

On the same day, Srinivas Yadav will inaugurate the Hyderabad Fish Cuisine Festival at NTR Stadium, while local elected officials will do the same in their respective districts.

Dairy farmers and fishers will take part in the Rythu Dinotsavam celebrations, which will take place on Saturday at all Rythu Vedikas.

On June 8, kiosks and flexes will be set up to explain the distribution of fish and shrimp at all reservoirs as part of Cheruvula Panduga.

Department officials were also asked to plant trees in huge quantities as part of the Haritha Haram campaign at all veterinary facilities.
